CISTM16 - Zika Debate: Should My Traveller Worry?

Infectious diseases transmitted via blood or body fluids remain a significant threat to international travellers. Many travellers have new sexual partners while travelling and some will contract sexually transmitted infections (STIs). A specific risk is exposure to HIV, via both sexual and non-sexual contacts. This symposium will cover the sexual behavior of travellers, factors associated with increased risk of unsafe sex and the epidemiology of STIs in travellers. Pre-travel intervention strategies with be discussed. The role of the use of HIV pre and post exposure prophylaxis in travellers will be discussed.
